The Natural Oriented Reserve of Priolo Salt-works was established on December 28th 2000 in order to safeguard the local flora and the migratory fauna which during the year is established there.
The oldest Sicilian salt-works production is already testified in the 1200, since the beginning of the ’70s when it was stopped due to the tuna fishing, a widespread activity near the coasts of eastern Sicily.
